Educational Quality and
Diversity

Education Hervey Bay is a cooperative of organisations made up
from State Schools, Independent (Non-State) Schools, TAFE (Senior
College), University and the City Council.
Our Overall Aim: is to aid in the development of Hervey
Bay as a centre for educational excellence, educational vitality and
unique offering. By working together we are able to offer Hervey
Bay as a destination of educational quality and diversity to people in:
~ other countries (for marketing education internationally);
~ other States of Australia;
~ regions of Queensland.
Our Structure: Education Hervey Bay comprises of various levels of
member organisations, and is coordinated by a management committee of
Principals / Senior Officers that represent the different members.
Meetings are held on a regular basis and Sub-Committees are appointed by
the group for specific areas that require development or coordination.
By enabling a special presence of, and positive and spontaneous
cooperation between, educational facilities, we can assist in the
quality development of the City or Hervey Bay. Some of the
principal operations of Education Hervey Bay are:

Enabling joint marketing in
educational offerings to other regions, States and
Countries.

Setting up of courses suitable
for international students.

Encouraging development of
facilities for international students (e.g. hostel,
home-stay, eco-tourist trips, excursions, field trip
experiences etc).

Promoting the Specialist areas
of education in this area e.g.:
~ Marine Studies
~ Information Technology
~ Chinese Language and Cultural development
~ Multi-media
~ Outdoor Education programs
~ Eco-tourism
~ Leadership Development

Continued development of links
between Secondary Schools and TAFE for Link Programs,
Vocational programs and specialised facilities.

Development of a mutually
acceptable offering of subjects whereby an individual school
(that may not have a viable enrolment in a certain subject)
may enable a student to be enrolled in another school's
course for that subject (subject to QSA regulations).

Enabling Early Start and
University links between TAFE and USQ and between Senior
Secondary Schools and USQ. Provision of a "seamless"
education from Pre-school through Primary, Secondary, TAFE
and University via a number of pathways.

Fostering relationships and
processes that provide smoother transitions for students
from School to work, from Primary to secondary, from School
to University or TAFE.

Enabling a technology link for
all educational facilities to utilise On-Line Learning,
Electronic Course Materials, Electronic Communication and
related local facilities.

Developing opportunities for
enabling a vital and interactive educational community
through regular and organised joint activities such as:
~ Sporting Competitions (other than current District/Zone
offerings),
~ Cultural Events,
~ Study Tours,
~ International Tours,
~ Debating and Public Speaking events,
~ Formation or development of new or existent Staff Network
groups.

Developing models for
Infra-Structure to support Educational industry development
in the City.

Develop and extend opportunities
for the Development of Education, Training and Employment
within the local Organisations.

Overseeing the implementation of
the Queensland State Government's White Paper on Education
and Training Reform (E.T.R.F.) - especially:
~ The progression of youth from Year 10 to employment,
training or further education (Senior Secondary, TAFE,
University).
~ The seamless development of education through the years of
middle schooling - Years 6 - 10.
~ The development of Preparatory School programs.
Education Hervey Bay prides itself upon the cooperation available
between Educational organisations, which results in joint sporting,
cultural and educational opportunities and events. The enterprise is
strongly supported by the Hervey Bay City Council and this adds to the
range of opportunities for students in this region.
